Sweet Memories Montage

So all of us in long-distance relationships cherish the moments that we get to spend with our significant others. I know I find myself daydreaming about little moments that we share when we are together. At the beginning of my relationship with my Marine, I found  myself looking through pictures of all the times we had spent together: holidays, trips, or just the occasional self-portraits. Then it hit me: why not make a montage of times when we got to spend time together? So I recorded at random times when we got to spend time together; I’d just set the my camera down somewhere, press the record button, and we’d go on as usual. It was really nice watching the videos and realizing how much fun I have with him and how any time apart is completely worth the little time we get together. I made a montage of a couple moments from a whole bunch of the videos that I had, and send it to him for valentine’s day. By then, it had been a while since I had seen him, so it was nice looking back at all our memories, and he loved it! He tells me that he still watches it randomly to this day.

Here’s the video I made!

I’m going to try to pick this back up, and record again when we get to spend time together, maybe you can do this too! If you have any montages feel free to leave a link in the comments, I’d love to watch!

App Idea for Class

For my FDOM class I have to come up with a Mobile App Idea and I chose to name mine “MilSo Interactive”. Screen Shot 2013-10-13 at 6.19.40 PM

The App’s purpose would be to connect US Milsos for support, advice, crafts ideas, and create friendships. The tabs would be for different things such as: Pictures being posted, recipes, invitations, events, care-package ideas, and status updates of those you wish to connect with, the news feed can be narrowed down to your specific location. I think people would want to use it because it would bring many resources to them and help them feel understood. Some people need as much interaction as possible with people who understand them and this app can build new friendships and spark new ideas.

‘Feeling Blue’ Care-Package

It’s easy to come up with themed care-packages when it’s a holiday month, but what about for a month like June or September? I like putting together themed packages because it’s fun and my boyfriend appreciates the time and creativity it took for me to put it together. I’ll always keep him guessing with what the next theme will be. I like looking on Pinterest and Tumblr for care-package ideas because the people who post them are so creative and insightful! There are plenty of themes you can go with for a care package, but for this post I’ll show you my ‘Feeling Blue Without You’ care-package theme I recently sent him.

Feeling Blue Care-package

There are so many things you can do with this theme, which is why I love it so much! I just used light blue paper and paint to decorate the inside of the box and bought a bunch of blue things and snacks to put inside!

Some Ideas for items to put in your box are blue:

  • Toiletries
  • Snacks (Chips, Pop-tarts, Beef Jerky, ect.)
  • Candy (Sour Punch Straws, Gummy Bears, ect.)
  • Boxers (Because he can never have too many boxers)
  • Shirts
  • Love notes

Songs to get you by

Music is something that helps me get by whenever I’m away from my significant other (which is like 99.9% of the time). I know that music is very powerful, for instance, when you are sad you might listen to sad songs, or maybe you listen to upbeat songs when you work out to help pump you up. Music is a very good way to let some emotions out and help deal with what you’re going through at a certain time in your life.

I can say that when a song has lyrics that I can relate to, I feel like someone gets me, like I’m not going through what I’m going through completely alone. I like having songs that I can feel a connection to especially when I’m an emotional wreck.

My boyfriend and I made a playlist of songs that remind us of each other, and we have about 50 songs on it so it doesn’t get TOO repetitive. I recommend you and your significant other make a playlist that you can both listen to when you are away from each other (it’s even nice to listen to it when you do get to spend time together).

Okaaay. So here it is, I complied some songs that are about either being away from a loved one, military love, or missing someone. I hope you like them, and if you have any songs that you like that help get you by, please sound off in the comments!
